A Superabsorbent Sodium Polyacrylate Printing Resin as Actuator Material in 4D Printing

چکیده

Abstract Superabsorbent polymers are materials that exhibit a high swelling behavior in liquids and can hold the absorbed liquid even against externally applied pressure. They commercially used, for example, baby diapers, fake snow, or swellable children's toys. Most available superabsorbent based on polymerized crosslinked sodium acrylate. Here, material formulation to create 3D objects using stereolithographic printing of acrylate is demonstrated. The shows typical properties cannot be reached with conventional materials. printed structures swell strongly (up 20 times weight) aqueous environments still show 65% under an external load 100 kPa. This used parts automatically change their size shape when exposed water. To versatility this approach, selected printed, including ship medical stent. Also applicability actuation by structure demonstrated, which deforms self‐closing container upon exposure

Biomimetic 4D printing.

Shape-morphing systems can be found in many areas, including smart textiles, autonomous robotics, biomedical devices, drug delivery and tissue engineering. The natural analogues of such systems are exemplified by nastic plant motions, where a variety of organs such as tendrils, bracts, leaves and flowers respond to environmental stimuli (such as humidity, light or touch) by varying internal tur...

Direct 4D printing via active composite materials

We describe an approach to print composite polymers in high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) architectures that can be rapidly transformed to a new permanent configuration directly by heating. The permanent shape of a component results from the programmed time evolution of the printed shape upon heating via the design of the architecture and process parameters of a composite consisting of a gl...

Multimaterial 4D Printing with Tailorable Shape Memory Polymers

We present a new 4D printing approach that can create high resolution (up to a few microns), multimaterial shape memory polymer (SMP) architectures. The approach is based on high resolution projection microstereolithography (PμSL) and uses a family of photo-curable methacrylate based copolymer networks. We designed the constituents and compositions to exhibit desired thermomechanical behavior (...

Bio-printing Damaged Tissues: A Novel Approach in Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine, deals with functional reconstruction of damaged tissues or organs after severe injuries chronic diseases, while body's natural responses are not sufficient. In this field, stem cells due to their exclusive potential in self-renewal and differentiation into other cell types, are the main sources of functional cells in regenerative medicine. However, challenges in stem cell...
